Fancy Camera Lens Cover - Photography

August 22, 2010 – 8:41 pm
The ultimate in lens cover technology. I have started to take photogoraphy more seriously than a hobby and needed to upgrade my lens. I had this little 52mm lens cover that came with a cheap cleaning kit. I could unsnap and it was on a cord. That seemed like a good idea most of the time so I was suprised when I moved up to a 77mm filter size to find there was no choice in lens covers. None at all. All manufacturers make the same type of cover with the two side buttons and that's it! It would seem that higher end camera lenses would have options for fancy lens covers. What photographer worth his or her salt would not want a super fancy, neon enhanced, glow in the dark, gold trimmed, fur lined, flashing led lens cover? I know I sure did. But when I looked around, nothing.... a vast wasteland ...

How To Create a Home Media Center

April 12, 2010 – 7:50 am
I faced the same problem so many people do today. With the changes in movie delivery to streaming instead of DVD ro VHS and more movies available as a download, plus a growing video collection, and boxes of VHS tapes and DVDs....how do you manage it all? The answer is a Media Center. First, I should explain what this actually is. It is nothing as complicated as you might think. A Media Center is a regular computer that you connect to your TV. It is just that simple. You can then store your movies on the computer and you have access to them anytime. You can record directly to an MPG video file instead of to a VHS tape or DVD. When you want to watch a move, you do not have to search your collection, just a scroll and a click and you are watching your show. I signed up for Netflix ...

Jobs For Felons - There are jobs for ex-cons

July 5, 2009 – 8:16 pm
Finding employment after being released from prison can be one of the most difficult tasks a felon faces. No one wants to hire you but parole terms require you to have a job or go back to jail. Even if you do not have parole requirements, you have to support yourself and face the question on every job applicatrion: “Have you ever been convicted of a felony?” Over 80% of all employers use some form of background check today which greatly limits the job paths available to convicted felons and even those convicted of misdemeanors. Here are some jobs that are available: #10 Delivery Driver Many companies are willing to hire felons as delivery people as long as you have a clean driving record and no DUI's. UPS has been known to hire felons. #9 Join the Army You may be able to join the Army or another military branch. It depends on the conviction you have. ...

Online Shopping Tips – Can you avoid bad websites

October 12, 2008 – 5:32 pm
When shopping at any website you are unfamiliar with or giving your card to anyone when purchasing through an online auction, use a Virtual Credit Card Number. This is a one time use credit card number that you can obtain from the website of your credit card company. If you later find that the person or website you gave the number to was dishonest, you can file for a chargeback without having to cancel your actual credit card and obtain a new number. You never gave the real number to anyone, only the one time use virtual number, so there is no risk of them charging it again because it will not work. Use a security program like the My Little Mole Toolbar from mylittlemole.com This toolbar will warn you if you visit any of thousands of known fraudulent websites. Many dishonest websites have non https SSL encrypted order pages. You may ...

Earthquake and Disaster Preparedness Meals MRE’s

October 2, 2008 – 5:31 pm
After each little tremor, everone in California is reminded that they should setup a kit so they are prepared when the big one hits. Most do not but some do. Hopefully if you are reading this, then you are a smart person who is trying to put together your disaster kit. Whether it is for the pending California quake, hurricane, tornado, or other disaster, you need a kit. This is not a comprehensive kit explanation but I wanted to share some things I learned when I put together my kit. You can purchase premade kits in a bucket from various websites. These are great starter kits but by no means should you think you are ready just because you have a 5 gallon bucket of stuff in the garage. You need to look at your needs. If you are single and live alone you will need less than you will if you have ...

New Employment Trend Changes How You Find Work

September 29, 2008 – 9:04 am
Would you believe there are 99,450 Work-At-Home Jobs available today?   Full time employment is going the way of the dinosaur. A new trend in employment provides a more liquid job market that makes it easier and faster to be hired than ever before. The old job search websites are no longer where you find jobs. Today the smart worker seeks out freelance jobs they can do at home. You no longer post your resume on a job service and hope an employer will contact you. Now you can look over a list of jobs, pick the one you want and then tell the employer what you want to be paid. When you finish that job you pick the next one you want. If you want to take a break, simply wait before taking the next job. I checked the job listings today and found 99,450 work-at-home jobs which had not been ...

Palin’s Email Not Hacked

September 17, 2008 – 7:01 pm
A news story has broken claiming VP candidate Palin's Yahoo email account was hacked. This is simply inaccurate and another example of how the press slants a story. The real story is even bigger. Palin's account was NOT hacked. No one hacked their way into yahoo servers and looked up her password. That simply did not happen and any news agency that reports it did happen is falsifying the facts. Someone obtained her password, I will explain how in a moment, then they posted the password to a public message board and other people logged in for a period of about 3 hours accessing her personal email and photos. A  good samaritan  who read the message went in and changed the password to prevent others from accessing the account. Now, I will tell you what really happened. Palin's account was compromised through a phishing email. PHishing as in fishing for information. Someone sent her a fake ...

Does Grammar Really Affect Your SEO?

September 12, 2008 – 9:36 pm
Google has made many black-box changes to their search ranking systems over the years. Their main goal is to present relevant content based on search terms. They want you to find what you are looking for. When you find what you are looking for, you return over and over and click their ads or use their other services which makes them money. They benefit by giving you want you want. Google has even blocked some websites that they know the be distributing Trojan software or that were nothing more than dummy sites filled with keywords. In the past, some marketers figured out that if they could generate a lot of back links to their site, it would make their site jump to the top of the rankings. This resulted in link-farms that were nothing but dummy websites filled with pointless links designed to improve the SEO of the sites they linked to. ...
